Lino Workshop May 3rd, 2026
in ChinaTown, Victoria
Beginner Lino Printing and an ode to plants
What to Expect
A 4 hour workshop split between morning and afternoon, exploring the basics of lino printing with plants as our muse. You will be encouraged to come to the day with some basic ideas for your 2 small prints. By the time we gather, we will share a bit about who our plant choices are and why they came with us today. It could be a long-time friend, a new relation, or a plant calling your name this spring. The day will consist of caring for these plant spirits and perhaps even learning more about their essence, while designing, carving, and printing our 2 designs. By the end of the day, you will have multiple small prints on triangles that we will string together to make your garland. Hang it up outside for an event, or indoors to usher in their support. If you have extra time, you are welcome to make more than one!
PS You will receive a little lino how to zine to refer to in class and remember the steps for printing at home!

Testimonials
Eden held a sweet and cozy container that invited personal shares and folk tales. We weaved our stories over tea and snacks, and sailed on to a new skill in LinoPrinting. It's a skill that requires time and patience if you're a perfectionist, but the satisfying sigh of awe at your print on paper makes this adventure so enticing and fun. I kept falling in love with my creation, and surprised at the depth to which my part of my soul was expressed through it. I so highly recommend it. ~ Rachel
Eden brings a beautifully warm, welcoming and creative spirit to their leadership. All ways of exploring art and different mediums were encouraged and celebrated. It was an honour to attend these classes, and it seemed like people left the class with an inspired, full and connected heart. ~ Rebekah

The basis of lino is that you are carving a stamp and printing it with ink. As a beginner class, we will be working with very small blocks but the art form can soar! Check out my post on how to print in reduction lino here: https://edengrace.substack.com/p/the-making-of-charlie-and-how-to
You can also take your block and print it on both paper and fabric later on!

Eden loves to combine art with ecological thinking. This class merges our love for plants with an intro to lino making. By creating a garland, we celebrate the celtic Beltane festival by infusing our homes with spring.

Although this class is designed for adults, kids are welcome! For anyone under 15 years of age, we need a parental guardian to join the workshop as well. For anyone joining under 18, we will need a parental consent form signed as we are using sharp tools to carve the lino.

Lino caving uses sharp gouges by speedball and exacto blades to create images in rubber blocks. A fist aid kit will be on site, though following instructions on how to use the tools safely and looking after yourself while carving and printing will be important.
